Lourensford Estate is celebrating following its success at the recent Novare SA Terroir Wine Awards, Amorim Cap Classique Challenge and Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards, as well as in Tim Atkin’s Special Report 2020.

In September, 11 of Lourensford’s wines were awarded 90 points and above in the Tim Atkin Special Report 2020 with the (yet to be released) 2010 Brut Cuvée 101 and 2019 Kleipot Petit Sirah scoring 94. The 2010 Cuvée 101 also received Double Gold and was awarded the trophy for Best Museum Class at the 2020 Amorim Cap Classique Challenge where the 2015 MCC Brut and 2017 MCC Brut Rose received Bronze.

This month, Lourensford was named the country’s top estate and recognised for producing the top single vineyard wine at the Novare SA Terroir Wine Awards. The Limited Release Sémillon Noble Late Harvest 2014 was named the national winner in the Natural Sweet Wine category and took the trophy for Top Single Vineyard home. The estate produced a national champion in the Viognier category with the Limited Release Viognier 2019.

Lourensford had an impressive haul in the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards 2020, also held this month. The Chrysalis White Blend went Platinum, the Limited Release Shiraz Mourvedre Viognier 2018 and Viognier 2019 as well as the Chrysalis Red Blend 2016 all shone with Double Gold, The Dome Merlot and Lourensford Brut Blanc MCC 2015 were awarded Gold and The Dome Pinot Noir 2019 received Silver.

Cellarmaster Hannes Nel said this is a proud time for the winemaking team: “We are very thankful and it has been 18 years of hard work, dedication, passion and focus that got us to this point. The bar has been set high,” said Nel. “Being acknowledged and awarded for the special sips that we create never fails to put a smile on my face. To properly portray the unique origins of our wines is to celebrate and honour the land our vines call home through the wine that we produce. Our 4000-hectare estate is something to behold and the diversity of our terroir and natural beauty continue to inspire me to create memorable wines.”
