The new Demi-sec Nectar 2018 Cap Classique, a bottle-fermented 100% Chardonnay from Lourensford Estate in Somerset West, is a tantalising sparkling wine that is the perfect balance of serious and fun.

“Spring is on its way and much like the flowers about to bloom, the Nectar 2018 is a naturally beautiful wine with a colourful personality that you can’t help but love. With delicate notes of citrus, white peach and lemon peel, the flavours are complemented with a rich biscuity allure,” says Cellarmaster Hannes Nel. “This is a classic wine with flair.”

The Nectar 2018 joins Lourensford’s popular and award winning Cap Classique range, which includes the Brut, Brut Rose and Limited Release Cuvee 108. The Demi-sec in the name refers to a medium-sweet sparkling wine which typically contains 35 – 50 grams of sugar per litre. By comparison, a Brut only contains up to 15 grams of sugar per litre.

Hannes says the South African market has seen a noticeable increase in the demand for slightly sweeter wines. “Many consumers are wanting lighter, fruitier wines; the Nectar 2018 is a quality wine and we are confident it is the slightly sweeter Cap Classique for which more and more people have developed a palate.”

Brunch, lunch or supper – the Nectar is versatile wine with which to start or end your meal. “It complements savoury dishes with sweet elements such as mild, creamy curries containing coconut or my favourite: Duck A L’Orange,” says Hannes.

The Nectar 2018 can also be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with sweet or light, fruit-based desserts such as strawberries and cream.

“Let this sensational Cap Classique seduce your taste buds and make your special moments that much more memorable,” concludes Hannes.
